California Governor Jerry Brown used the occasion of his fourth inaugural address to propose an ambitious new clean energy target for the state: 50% renewable energy by 2030.
“We are at a crossroads,” Brown said in announcing the proposal, according to Climate Progress. “The challenge is to build for the future, not steal from it, to live within our means and to keep California ever golden and creative.”

Andreas Prokoph is a adjunct research professor at the Department of Earth Sciences at Carleton University.
According to the Heartland Institute, Andreas Prokoph was previously an adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa's Department of Earth Sciences, a position that he first held in 2003. He presumably moved to Carleton some time before 2007, as an archive of the department, going back as far as November 23, 2007 does not list Prokoph as a professor. ,
His areas of specialization include cyclostratigraphy, sedimentology, and Cretaceous stratigraphy. He has held positions at the GFZ Potsdam, UC London, and University of Ottawa. Since 2001, he has owned the consulting business SPEEDSTAT, which specializes in research support—image and data analysis, computer modelling, and software development—in Earth and environmental science.
Stance on Climate Change
“Until ~200 million years ago, CO2 may have be a diver of global temperature change … In the past ~150Myr CO2 follows global temperature.”
“Even the IPCC knows about [the urban heat island effect], and tried to adjust for it, but as [Ross] McKitrick mentioned, they adjust poorly for it…” (See video of his speech at the Heartland Institute's ICCC1 below).
Prokoph was a speaker at the Heartland Institute's First International Conference on Climate Change (ICCC1). See a video of his presentation below:
Andreas Prokoph is listed on the “60 scientists letter to Stephen Harper” as Andreas Prokocon, however in a search of publications this name does not exist. Prokoph's email address is [email protected], so we will assume this Andreas is one and the same.
According to a search of 22,000 academic journals, Prokoph has published 20 research articles in peer-reviewed journals, mainly on the subject of sedimentology.
