Today Al Gore was welcomed in the Oval Office and recognized by George W Bush for his hard work and dedication on the issue of global warming.
Of course, the only way this could happen was for former vice-president Gore to win a Nobel Prize and George W Bush being forced by tradition.
I wonder if the irony of the whole situation dawned on Bush at any point in the meeting?
Here you have a two-term do-nothing (positive) president reviled by the vast majority of the world on the last legs of his career, shaking the hand of the man who should have been president, who instead went on to win an Oscar, an Emmy and the Nobel Peace Prize.
I wonder if anyone at the ceremony flashed Bush the “L-sign.”
What if the tables were turned and Gore was the two-term president and Bush was meeting President Gore in the oval office?
What would Bush be there for?
Strangely, no plausible situation comes to mind, except for some type of pardon for illegal lobbying activities or a party for Big Oil companies – but neither of those meetings would occur in the Oval Office.
