Frank Bi of the ironically entitled International Journal of Inactivism has a wonderful and quite thorough analysis of the history of climate change conspiracy theories.
Frank has discovered - and carefully documented - accusations beginning as early as 1962 that people who care about the environment are secretly stupid, socialist, self-serving, unpatriotic, greedy, narcissistic or just plan mischievous.
Democracy is utterly dependent upon an electorate that is accurately informed. In promoting climate change denial (and often denying their responsibility for doing so) industry has done more than endanger the environment. It has undermined democracy.
There is a vast difference between putting forth a point of view, honestly held, and intentionally sowing the seeds of confusion. Free speech does not include the right to deceive. Deception is not a point of view. And the right to disagree does not include a right to intentionally subvert the public awareness.

So Pielke Senior, a quack of a scientist, is upset that three of his papers are not considered worth discussing by the IPCC reviewers.
I am not wasting time reading anything with Pielke Senior's name on it but I would suspect that the IPCC reviewers are completely correct in ignoring his poor science. I also think that these papers were after the deadline.

To promote something Frank, you have to spend some serious coin on it. Not pennies. If you want to see where the big bucks are on climate change, look to the WWF, Sierra Club, Greepeace, etc.. The conspiracy theories, whether from a warmer or a skeptic, are both useless because the conspiracies peddled are both foolish. Exxon "conspiring" to "paralyze" and "confuse" the public is the most outlandish and nonsensical of them all concerning the AGW issue, but I could do without any of them.
Promoting or propagating any conspiracy regarding AGW is merely a noisy sideshow distracting from the real issues.
