Climate activist Tim DeChristopher is set to be released from prison on Earth Day, this Sunday April 21st, since being incarcerated on July 26, 2011.
Tim DeChristopher created quite a ripple in the activist community when he tried to buy millions of dollars of land in December of 2008 in order to stop the oil and gas industry from snatching it up at an illegitimate...

Pollution control doesn’t curb greenhouse-gas emissions, Utah task force says
A full-size pickup spews 12-to-13 tons of greenhouse emissions annually versus about eight tons for a mid-size car, says Glade Sowards of the Task Force on Global Warming in Utah’s Division of Air Quality.
New federal regulations for diesel engines, which took effect in January, will help air pollution but do nothing to curb global warming.
"Catalytic converters and particulate filters help reduce that type of pollution," said Sowards. "But when it comes to CO2, or other greenhouse gases, they're mostly coupled with fuel consumption. The new diesel fuel will not reduce greenhouse gases."

Too much of our shipping
Too much of our shipping infrastructure currently depends on the highway system and huge trucks.
I don't see any other practical solution except to start building more electric trains ASAP. At least it would be *possible* to use a sustainable energy source to move them.
diesel
Actually diesel particulate filters reduce "black carbon" soot which may well have over 600 times the warming impact of CO2 on a per-ton basis.
It actually works by trapping burning off carbon particles which then end up as CO2.
