CEI argues IPCC science without any scientists

The Competitive Enterprise Institute, who not even the likes of ExxonMobil want to be associated with anymore, has issued a media advisory today offering up their in-house staff as global warming “experts” available for comment on the upcoming release by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

With the IPCC report coming from scientists, you would think the CEI would be offering up scientists as global warming “experts.

Think again.

Here's some background information on each of their so-called “experts.”

Here's some background information on each of their so-called “experts.”

Myron Ebell
Ebell is listed as the CEI's “director of energy and global warming policy.”Here's a great video (one of DeSmog's favorite's) of Ebell. So what exactly are Ebell's credentials as a “global warming expert?” First, you will notice in the video that Ebell admits he is not a scientist. Here's the sourcewatch scoop on Ebell.

Bottom line, he's not a scientist.

Iain Murray
Listed as a “Senior Fellow ” at the CEI, Murray's background and expertise in the science of global warming includes working for the British Department of Transport on railroad privatization. As far as any scienttific background, Murray hails a Diploma from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine.

Bottom line, not a scientists.

Marlo Lewis
Listed as a “Senior Fellow” at the CEI, Mr. Lewis holds a Ph.D in government and a BA in political science.

Bottom line, not a scientist.

Chris Horner
Also listed as a “Senior Fellow” at the CEI. He's a lawyer.

The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change plays an enormous role in shaping how climate science gets translated into policy in countries around the world, but so does the media.

A new report finds that, while the IPCC could have managed the rollout of its Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) better, lack of compelling coverage, especially in US media, is leading to less public demand for action and hence...
