Friends of Science: Facts from the Coal Industry's Favourite Scientist

There are few people in the climate change denial industry who have Pat Michaels' demonstrated willingness to cuddle up to big coal.

So, it's no surprise that the discredited Friends of Science chose Michaels as keynote speaker for the Friends' Fifth Annual Luncheon Event.

Romney Tied to Global Warming Denier Group

Aides and staffers of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney are listed among the principals of a new Astroturf group set up last fall to deny the science of global warming.

The new group advertises itself as the American Environmental Coalition - “working to keep America beautiful, strong and prosperous.” But the sole focus of its expensive website is to question the science of climate change. As for its outreach activities, the AEC seems intent only on attacking Romney's presidential competitor John McCain, the Republican candidate with the best record on responding to climate change.

John Locke Foundation: Echoes of Climate Change Denial

EnvironmentNC, the John Locke Foundation's environmental front group, has discovered another sterling source for discredited science: it's called ICECAP, a group that put its “reputation” on the line yesterday by guessing that 2007 may not rank as the warmest year on record in the Northern Hemisphere.

One might reasonably ask: so what? The issue of our times is global warming, not hemispheric anomalies. Yet, the agenda-driven ICECAP gets all breathless because this year's abnormality seems to be roughly in keeping with the trend.

Climate skeptic Pat Michaels refuses court request to disclose funding sources

Huge kudos to Kert Davies and Greenpeace for their effort in this latest astounding blow to the climate denial industry.

Court documents (attached at the bottom of this post) have surfaced claiming that longtime climate denier Pat Michaels has withdrawn as an expert witness from a Vermont court case after a request was submitted that he reveal his funding sources.

In the documents, Michaels states that he was dependent for his livelihood on the income he got through his wholly owned firm, New Hope Environmental Services, Inc.

“Many of New Hope's clients provide funding to New Hope with the understanding that the funding will be confidential,” Michaels and his lawyers said in one document.

NASA Chief Finds Support on Yet Another (Skeptics') Front

NASA's top administrator, Michael Griffin, speaking on NPR radio made some refreshingly sensible comments about the present global warming scare,” said Robert Ferguson, Director of the Science and Public Policy Institute. “Many rationalist scientists agree with him, clearly demonstrating there is no scientific consensus on man-made, catastrophic global warming,” said Ferguson.

aThe article, which also quotes Pat Michaels, Tim Ball, Robert Carter and other longtime skeptics, omits Ferguson's e-address: [email protected]. The “FF” in this case stands for Frontiers of Freedom, a longtime ExxonMobil-funded haven for footsoldiers in the disinformation war.

Glenn Beck "Climate of Fear" transcript

Haven't had a chance to comb through this yet, but thought I would post it in the meantime. I will bet anyone $5 that the word “global cooling” come up at least 5 times.
