Solutions: Switch to faucet fuel from fossil fuel to stop global warming

8 May 08

Is it possible that amidst all the bogus claims, political controversy and foul cries about looming economic destruction, there’s actually a simple solution to the ravages of climate change?

A prominent Canadian engineer and scientist believes the solution – not just any solution but the only solution – rests within a tiny cell we ingest every day. And it can eliminate both carbon emissions and world conflict over oil supplies while saving the planet from global warming.

So pour yourself a glass of water and read on.

Nature throws one-two punch at global warming

20 Apr 08

Reducing greenhouse emissions won’t be enough to stop global warming.

Three respected climate experts made the troubling argument in Nature that changing light bulbs, carbon taxes and cap-and-trade systems will have little impact because warming is already greater than anticipated and set to go much higher.

So much so, in fact, that we’re going to have to find new technology to bail us out.

The Deniers: The World Renowned Scientists Who Don't Actually Deny Global Warming

17 Apr 08

Solomon's New Book Full of Hysteria, (Imagined) Persecution, and Fraud

National Post stringer Lawrence Solomon's book-length version of his newspaper series on purported climate change deniers is just as unconvincing - and misleading - as the original Post articles. But at least he admits his motivation for writing it: he's an anti-nuclear, anti-mega-hydro guy watching the environmental tide turn against him.

Fraser Institute pitching to students in latest attempt to cloud global warming evidence

19 Mar 08

Having failed last year to discredit the International Panel on Climate Change, the Fraser Institute is hoping to have better luck brainwashing today’s youth. The ExxonMobil-funded organization has developed a global-warming booklet for distribution to high school students and teachers across Canada.

Allegedly aimed at “helping them understand the issue and make their own decisions about what actions are needed,” the manuscript was compiled by rookie scientists and retirees with strong ties to oil and gas pressure groups.

Harper snubs IPCC Scientists; Shoots Self in Foot

17 Feb 08

The Harper government did itself an injury this week when it boycotted a celebration for the Nobel Prize-winning scientists of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

The reception, on Parliament Hill last Tuesday, was hosted by the Swedish Ambassador and featured speeches from all party leaders save Prime Minister Stephen Harper. As Green Party leader Elizabeth May noted, this was a petty snub:

"When your fellow countrymen win the Nobel Peace Prize, you rise above the fact that you didn't like their advice," May said.
