Scientists Wax Optimistic in the face of Disaster

24 Sep 07

Climate scientist Michael Mann runs down the list of bad global warming news: The world is spewing greenhouse gases at a faster rate. Summer Arctic sea ice is at record lows. The ice sheets in Greenland and West Antarctica are melting quicker than expected.

Is he the doomsayer global warming skeptics have called him? Mann laughs. This Penn State University professor — and many other climate scientists — are sunny optimists. Hope blooms in the hottest of greenhouses.

NASA's Griffin apologizes for controversial comments

6 Jun 07

NASA Administrator, Michael Griffin, is backing away from comments he made last week in a National Public Radio interview. At the time Griffin stated that, " ...a trend of global warming exists, I am not sure that it is fair to say that it is a problem we must wrestle with.”

Today the White House appointed Griffin is apologizing to NASA staff saying that,

All I can really do is apologize to all you guys ... I feel badly that I caused this amount of controversy over something like this."

The Climate According to the Moonie Loonies

1 Aug 06

Rev. MoonAn editorial in The Washington Times criticizes a recent piece of writing by NASA Scientist Jim Hansen for not explaining why global warming is caused by human activities.  Perhaps that's because the scientific proof of human-generated warming is fast becoming ancient history.  It may not be known to the journalistic footsoldiers of that paragon of scientific inquiry, the Rev. Sun Myung Moon.  But the case has long been accepted by the world's community of mainstream climate scientists since 1995. (For a summary of the experiments by which scientists prove that global warming is a function of our burning of oil and coal, see:  "The Scientific Case for Human Induced Warming.")
