National Post "Rabid Response Team" Assails Suzuki Over Jail Quote

The Post's pages of outrage (O'Neill, Gunter) were inspired (this time) by a Suzuki speech to the students of McGill University.

“The Doc,” as he is known to friends and insiders, apparently took full flight in exhorting students to action on the environment and, especially, on the issue of climate change. The Post reports the following, culminating quote:

What I would challenge you to do is to put a lot of effort into trying to see whether there's a legal way of throwing our so-called leaders into jail because what they're doing is a criminal act.”

Polling the Politicians On Alberta Oil Sands

Looks like the tables have been turned on political hopefuls in Alberta. Instead of them polling us, for once the politicians are being polled on their views of the Alberta oil sands development.

Launched by the Pembina Institute, the 5 minute online poll has been sent to all the candidates running in the current Alberta provincial election.

Hunting for Solutions

Climate Change Denial: State of the Art

Somebody sent me this Toronto Sun piece the other day and I tried to ignore it. Seriously, in two short paragraphs, columnist Lorrie Goldstein dismisses we “global warming fanatics” as unreasonable, indecent, insensible, absurd, disgusting, juvenile, half-baked, self-righteous and mindless propagandists.

He then lays out a careful scientific argument that convincingly refutes the global scientific consensus on climate change … no, I'm kidding. He just goes on being insulting for his entire 600-word budget.

Perhaps we should take heart that the opposition has been reduced to this ….
