Like I said, we have a long ways to go. There's a lot of misperceptions outthere.

Can you enviro-diddlers actually be this dense? The letter is pretty obviously written as a joke.
If that was all it took to give you "the resolve to push on", we'd really love to know what would finally give you the resolve to push off?

I don't think it was. Fabulous play on words by the way "push on" "push off." Brilliant. If you don't like what we write, don't visit our site.

This is an issue of science here; until you present some evidence that this was indeed written as a joke, it is not unreasonnable to conclude that this is a manifestation of the inability of some people to understand basic science, which is common among GW deniers.
That you assert something without evidence is, in fact, another example of this phenomenon. Thank you for illustrating it so vividly.

It appeared in a newspaper and with all of the misinformation out there (thanks to energy-funded think tanks etc.) this letter will be read and will add to that misinformation. Letters to the editor are a very well-read section of the newspaper and do influence readers opinions.

Satire, I think

It looks to me like a clever satire of the way rightwing deniers often think. They argue that the growing concern over anthropogenic global warming is really just part of a socialist plot. After all, Mars has global warming too, you know!
