Gore Pushes The Envelope With His Ten-Point Agenda

Al Gore presented a 10-point climate agenda to Congress, beginning with an Immediate carbon freeze to cap US emissions at current levels.

Comments

If anyone actually cared about Gore’s “agenda”, then they would have voted for him. Turns out, they didn’t.
Good point. Except that they did vote for him. Other than that, good point. Sorry - were you not talking about the USA?

I liked this reference to the favorite scientist in some quarters (CNS news today):

In an apparent reference to Michael Crichton’s “State of Fear,” a novel skeptical of global warming, Gore said, “The planet has a fever. If your baby has a fever you go to the doctor. If the doctor says ‘take action,’ you don’t say ‘I read a science fiction book that says it’s not a problem.’
Why did Calamity Al set up Michael Crichton as his strawman target? There are several scientists, including Richard Lindzen, who have written devestating critiques of Gore’s sci-fi movie, showing example after example of where Gore’s science is seriously flawed. Why didn’t Gore address them and their views, instead of pretending that a novelist is his only serious opponent? Answer: Gore can’t challenge the scientists because the science is against him.

Lindzen is a contrarian who loves the spotlight. He thought he had “solved” the global warming problem when he published a number of papers on his Iris theory. Unfortunately, this theory has not stood the test of time and is now discredited among knowledgeable climate scientists.

Finally, there is something I can help with, a request for a reference. Actually, it wasn’t Gore who said Crichton (note spelling) was a good scientific source. It was T. Ball, in 2006, and again in 2007. The quote is as follows (but it might vary in the previous version).

Quoted text from www.canadafreepress.com: I am not alone in this journey against the prevalent myth. Several well-known names have also raised their voices. Michael Crichton, the scientist, writer and filmmaker is one of them. In his latest book, “State of Fear” he takes time to explain, often in surprising detail, the flawed science behind Global Warming and other imagined environmental crises.

Global Warming: The Cold, Hard Facts?

By Timothy Ball

Monday, February 5, 2007

Quoted text: Global Warming, as we think we know it, doesn’t exist. And I am not the only one trying to make people open up their eyes and see the truth. But few listen, despite the fact that I was one of the first Canadian Ph.Ds. in Climatology and I have an extensive background in climatology, especially the reconstruction of past climates and the impact of climate change on human history and the human condition. Few listen, even though I have a Ph.D, (Doctor of Science) from the University of London, England and was a climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg. For some reason (actually for many), the World is not listening. Here is why.

etc. etc.
As well as the Ball above, Crichton says Crichton is an expert.

IQ2 Debate: Global Warming Is Not a Crisis

Listen to Podcast or Read Transcript On March 14, 2007, Michael participated in a debate, speaking as part of the team in favor of the winning motion “Global Warming Is Not a Crisis”.

Mr. Dowell, if you are not able to find those references, please try the links. These should clear up the confusion.
Turns out he won the official national popular vote by over 1/2 a million. Turns out that he probably won Florida, too, but his legal challenge allowed the wingnuts on SCOTUS to conjure a “just this once” decision which turned equal protection on its head. Aren’t you lucky that you have a poltroon at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the past 6 years - who like you - can keep the horseblinders snapped on and deny what’s all around him?

Love that one, for those who haven't seen Sen. Boxer put Inhofe in his place, here's the video clip. I think she's way to nice to him and I think Inhofe's inability to listen is quite telling. Listen to the applause from the press and observers – they've been waiting a long time for someone to reign this guy in.

our opponents. It is really terrible that more than one view is allowed (at least for the moment). But soon we will have won, and the deniers will be charged with ‘crimes against the climate’ and other serious offences. What a glorious future!

this bonus ;)

Life in a prison is probably not the safest environment for a person.  But for prisoners in Pennsylvania, life just got a lot more dangerous.

According to a new report, inmates at State Correctional Institution Fayette in LaBelle, Pennsylvania have been experiencing a significant increase in cancer rates.  The report, which was put together by the Abolitionist Law Center and the Human Rights Coalition,...
