This documentary reminds me of the last gasps of those who insisted we'd find WMDs in Iraq any day now. Nobody paid attention to the wild conspirazoid theories that sprouted up to explain their absence and nobody is paying attention to the death rattle of the global warming deniers.

Actually, they did find a weapon of mass destruction in Iraq. They recently tried and hung him.

Speaking of Iraq, wasn't that where the United Nations had that really successful Oil for Palaces scam running? You know, the UN -- the same people who brought you the IPCC report.

Actually, they did find a weapon of mass destruction in Iraq. They recently tried and hung him.

And just in time, too. I hear he was about to run amok in the US, killing thousands of servicemen. Good thing they stopped that from happening.

Speaking of Iraq, wasn't that where the United Nations had that really successful Oil for Palaces scam running?

That's right. And now there's an even better scam. Bait 'n' switch. Promise them freedom, then disband the police force, dismantle the utilities, lay off the entire government, and place their most valuable resource in the hands of an American Corporation run by the Veep's cronies. Now that's what I call liberation!

Yeah, Iraq planned to drop Saddam over Tel Aviv using one of their UAVs. Alternately, they were going to grind him into a fine powder using one of their mobile biological weapons labs and mail him to our foreign embassies. Iraq is also where that Money for Miltias scam is going on. I forget who's running that show.

Glad to see a well-respected climate scientist like Monbiot (who recently jetted around the globe to promote his latest book, demanding people stop using air travel), weighing in on the subject. Who'da thought?!

The only thing more ridiculous would be if we were lectured on "global warming" by a former low-level Liberal Party apparatchik, now employed by a sleazy, bottom-of-the-barrel PR firm.

Oh, wait ... Never mind.

No surprise here. Moonbat's record precludes anything like open-mindedness or common sense.

your record *lacks* anything like open-mindedness or common sense.

Don't you find it a bit, um, convenient to be able to "preclude" the possibility of legitimate argument from someone who disagrees with you? Maybe you should address the argument, not the man...

The sentence

"We see how highly you global warmerization fanatics value legitimate argument."

is pretty much the opposite of "open-mindedness or common sense" (much like judging an article without reading it.)

Sadly, this type of thing seems to be the best the denialists can do these days, stretching the very limits of hypocrisy...over and over and over... Too bad, I used to enjoy a good dust-up about the weather, but all the intelligent opponents are long gone. I wonder where?

Say, do any of you trolls actually have something to say about the content of Monbiot's article? We're getting mighty cheesed off with hearing about how well your war for oil is going.

Monbiot's article -- in case you've not read it, and why would you? -- gives a detailed account of the alternative explanation given in the Channel 4 program to say that global warming is not connected with CO2 (like tobacco has nothing to do with cancer), and cites the scientific studies that have already proven it wrong. Now you can either attempt to argue that those studies which looked into it are invalid, or you accept them. You can't ignore them just because someone whom you don't like has brought them to your attention.

About the climate cover-up

About the climate cover-up

Democracy is utterly dependent upon an electorate that is accurately informed. In promoting climate change denial (and often denying their responsibility for doing so) industry has done more than endanger the environment. It has undermined democracy.

There is a vast difference between putting forth a point of view, honestly held, and intentionally sowing the seeds of confusion. Free speech does not include the right to deceive. Deception is not a point of view. And the right to disagree does not include a right to intentionally subvert the public awareness.

Although all public relations professionals are bound by a duty to not knowingly mislead the public, some have executed comprehensive campaigns of misinformation on behalf of industry clients on issues ranging from tobacco and asbestos to seat belts.

Lately, these fringe players have turned their efforts to creating confusion about climate change. This PR campaign could not be accomplished without the compliance of media as well as the assent and participation of leaders in government and business.
