Ostriches Still Flourish South of the Border

Less than half Americans believe global warming is due to human activities, according to a recent report from the Pew Center for People and the Press.

The Angus Reid poll is general and doesn’t ask people their opinion on what is causing global warming (at least what is shown on the page you refer to). The Pew poll doesn’t contradict these results if you look at the table.
It’s interesting that Americans, whose intellects it is fashionable for us to look down upon, are less susceptible than Canadians to brain-washing and mass hysteria.

And your evidence? I’m not trying to make an argument for the former. After all, Stephen Harper was elected, so we have our share of idiots.
Here’s an example: http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/story.html?id=a5a282dd-ea47-45a3-9408-43bd72cb13d8&k=17109 All talk, no action — typically Canadian; let’s call for a Royal Commission.
Romeogolf, And now that Harper et.al. have jumped on the AGW bandwagon with the rest of the ethically challenged political weasels, I have to agree with you on that.
Here’s yet another example of all talk, no action: http://www.canada.com/theprovince/news/story.html?id=ab048450-771d-46bd-bd36-f86c0f45a77c. While the Liberals had their programs, they caved into the oil sands lobby, so their efforts at meeting Kyoto amounted to squat. The Conservatives are even worse, having to rely on slagging the Liberal record as a smokescreen for their ideological blindness and intellectual infirmity. People can still take personal responsibility and do their part in reducing their ecological footprint and GHG emissions. Don’t wait for Harper. And if you’re not happy with the government, we have other choices beyond the Conservatives (misnomer) and the Liberals. Only by voting and becoming politically engaged will there be some potential for turfing the corrupted mandarins in Ottawa.

"It's interesting that Americans.... are less susceptible than Canadians to brain-washing and mass hysteria."

They sure bought WMD hook, line and sinker. Look where that got them.

And then they bought Exxon Mobil's version of climate change. And Dick Cheney's energy plan. And some very expensive trucks from Haliburton.

But they're back on track now, thank God. Dubya's moved to te right side of the fence on climate change. ZOG, you're about to be one very lonely person. Ever consider changing faiths?

No thanks Dew, I still prefer rational thought and real science to high-tech astrology. Are you saying that you didn’t buy into WMD? That makes you quite unique. As far as Bush is concerned, he isn’t a scientist, and his opinions whether pro AGW (where the sheep votes are and will be until we get a couple of hard winters) or pro rationality are irrelevant.
How is it that Bush’s opinions on climate change are irrelevant? As leader of the right-wing echo chamber, the opposite is true.

About the climate cover-up

About the climate cover-up

Democracy is utterly dependent upon an electorate that is accurately informed. In promoting climate change denial (and often denying their responsibility for doing so) industry has done more than endanger the environment. It has undermined democracy.

There is a vast difference between putting forth a point of view, honestly held, and intentionally sowing the seeds of confusion. Free speech does not include the right to deceive. Deception is not a point of view. And the right to disagree does not include a right to intentionally subvert the public awareness.
