Fake science, fakexperts, funny finances, free of tax

Modern anti-science was created by the tobacco industry in the 1950s and then used against climate science, often by the same well-experienced think tanks and individuals.  Tobacco anti-science is strangely entangled with climate anti-science, as the attached report shows in detail involving Fred Singer's SEPP, Joseph Bast's Heartland, and more.

Would You Buy A Used Oil Well From This Guy?

Exxon Mobil is "the only principled oil and gas company I know in the US." – Richard S. Lindzen.

Dave Roberts has more on Grist. Lindzen degrades any dignity he has left by bringing Hitler into the equation. I'm sorry, who's alarmist?

Researcher Slams Skeptics' Distortions in New York Times Op-Ed

"Our results have been misused as 'evidence' against global warming by Michael Crichton … and by Ann Coulter… In the meantime, I would like to remove my name from the list of scientists who dispute global warming. I know my coauthors would as well." -- Peter Doran, Op-Ed Page, New York Times, July 27, 2006

Crichton and Stossell - Rounding Out the Skeptics Conference

Michael Crichton

Crichton says that true skeptics are a dying breed. He says that whenever there is a big mass movement, skeptics vanish, and he believes that we need skeptics, and we need them to be especially vigilant whenever debate seems to end.

He made some pretty dramatic claims about terrible things that happen in hospitals – people's tissues being stolen and sold, cadavers being stolen, bones from bone cancer patients being given in transplants, genes being patented.

Michael Crichton: Big Oil's Favorite 'Journalist'

The American Association of Petroleum Geologists is presenting its annual journalism award this year to Michael Crichton, the science fiction writer whose latest book, "State of Fear," dismisses global warming as a largely imaginary threat embraced by malignant scientists for their own ends.

"It is fiction," conceded Larry Nation, communications director for the association. "But it has the absolute ring of truth" he told the New York Times.
