Polar Bear Army Deployed for Canadian Election

With the Canadian federal election off to the races, DeSmogBlog has deployed an army of polar bears across Canada that will be working to raise the profile of climate change issues, especially around the environmental impacts of Alberta's oil sands operations.
The campaign is called the Arctic Front, and many of our regular readers will remember that we began this campaign during the Alberta provincial election earlier this year. Since then we have expanded our capabilities and now have polar bears stationed across the country, ready to get out the message at town hall forums, debates, rallies and other events.
In fact, over the summer the Arctic Front was featured on the Discover magazine website for our rather unique approach to getting the message out.
So watch for us in your town!
And of course, this campaign would not be complete without a fully integrated web 2.0 strategy. Check out our Facebook group, Arctic Front blog, Flickr group and Twitter feed for the latest polar bear sightings over the next six weeks.
If you are interested in joining our polar bear army drop me a line at: desmogblog@gmail.com and we'll get you all set up.

Kevin,
I'm just wondering. Does Harper believe that Canadians are as shallow as we are here in the US? Does he think that our elections will distract Canadians and he wins by default or is it that I just don't understand Canadian politics?

How can we expect Harper to be concerned about climate change when Mike Lake, MP Edmonton Mill Woods and Beaumont tables a petition (May 2007) that wants to ensure the protection of Bigfoot from extinction. Google Mike Lake and Bigfoot and see the news articles. These guys have no idea.
well what to say about this now!

Actually many pundits in Canada think that Harper rushed the election so it would not coincide with a win for Obama.
You really think Obama has a chance to win? So was Kerry and Gore as I recall. Fear and a cult of personality seems to carry the day here and issues be damned.
That's interesting. I follow Canadian politics closely and haven't heard a single pundit say Harper is rushing our election due to concern about an Obama win.
An Obama win would make little difference for Canada's hapless Liberals and Green Party anyways.
You want to get your hearing checked. They know about it even in Turkey and France:
...Observers said Harper also wanted a ballot ahead of the U.S. election on Nov. 4, which could put Democrat Barack Obama in the White House and encourage Canadians to choose a more liberal government...

That anything is possible in the US after Gore's loss and an Obama win is just as likely as a McCain win right now.
Time will tell but I'm not sitting still. I'm telling who is ever willing to listen about the peril the world faces with global warming and the RNC Convention white wash and the damage that this wrecking crew has reaked for the last 8 years.
I even had my mom, who is by no means fond of Al Gore, view my personal copy of Inconvenient Truth and she came away from it with a changed view on the subject.
So it may be this time around that we see a favorable outcome in the election. I guess we'll just have to keep repeating Katrina 'till November 4th.
you really think the results of an election are going to have any impact on Global Warming? thats just silly.

The Polar Bear Expedition was sent to Russia by the U.S. President Woodrow Wilson in response to requests from the governments of Great Britain and France to join the Allied Intervention in North Russia (also known as the North Russia Campaign). The British and French had three objectives for this intervention:[2]

People have gathered to Ireland, since it has a lot to do with the most well known holiday, the St. Patrick's Day. President Barack Obama is a customary on St. Patrick's Day and the Prime minister meet him and they tackled about the global economy. Ireland has been hit hard by recession and has had to make cash advances of their own to prevent financial disaster. However, hopes are high that recovery is going to happen sooner rather than later, which would be good news for Ireland.
