majority of Americans remain unconvinced that humans are responsible for climate change, or that there is an urgent need to act, according to a poll by the American Academy for the Advancement of Science and the Pew Research Center.

Only 64% of dems believe in AGW? - despite the fact that their leaders are all on board 110% ... interesting - I wonder which direction that 64% is going to go in the next few years.

Probably to at least 85% when the planet starts warming again after a brief hiatus due to La Nina.

To paraphrase Richard Clarke, former counter-terrorism advisor, once the body bags start accumulating as a result of the ravages of AGW, people and governments will finally take action.

Democracy is utterly dependent upon an electorate that is accurately informed. In promoting climate change denial (and often denying their responsibility for doing so) industry has done more than endanger the environment. It has undermined democracy.

There is a vast difference between putting forth a point of view, honestly held, and intentionally sowing the seeds of confusion. Free speech does not include the right to deceive. Deception is not a point of view. And the right to disagree does not include a right to intentionally subvert the public awareness.
