Oil Execs to the Big House Over Climate Change?

Should oil executives be prosecuted for high crimes against humanity? Top NASA scientist Jim Hansen thinks so.

In an interview with the Guardian newspaper, Hansen said

“When you are in that kind of position, as the CEO of one the primary players who have been putting out misinformation even via organizations that affect what gets into school textbooks, then I think that's a crime."

Clearly many the scientific community have finally had it with being nice with the oil lobby…

Hey Newsbusters, show us your science

In very predictable form, Noel Sheppard at the oil-industry-friendly Newsbuster's, takes to task NASA scientist Jim Hansen's rebuttal to the misinformation and media hype around the minor adjustments to NASA's US temperature records.

Sheppard writes: "So, folks like McIntyre, Fred Singer, Richard Lindzen, Tim Ball, Benny Peiser, Robert Carter, Anthony Watts, and all those around the world including myself who are exposing the flaws in the anthropogenic global warming myth are jesters deceiving the public."

Well, yes, in fact that would be true if you consider that within the context of science, there are those who are actually doing research and publishing their findings in the peer-reviewed literature.

Hansen on Usufruct and Deniers

What we have here is a case of dogged contrarians who present results in ways intended to deceive the public into believing that the changes have greater significance than reality."

This deceit has a clear purpose: to confuse the public about the status of knowledge of global climate change, thus delaying effective action to mitigate climate change."

Attached is a very well written response by NASA's Jim Hansen to the contrarian glee over the minor adjustments made to their US temperature data.

NASA's Griffin apologizes for controversial comments

NASA Administrator, Michael Griffin, is backing away from comments he made last week in a National Public Radio interview. At the time Griffin stated that, " ...a trend of global warming exists, I am not sure that it is fair to say that it is a problem we must wrestle with.”

Today the White House appointed Griffin is apologizing to NASA staff saying that,

All I can really do is apologize to all you guys ... I feel badly that I caused this amount of controversy over something like this."

NASA's trouble in the hen house, top scientist slams administrator

The big story today, which we wrote about last night was some outrageous statements made by White House appointed NASA administrator, Michael Griffin.

Today, Jim Hansen, a top NASA scientist is coming back at Griffin hard in an exclusive interview with ABC News. Hansen states:

It's an incredibly arrogant and ignorant statement," Hansen told ABC News. "It indicates a complete ignorance of understanding the implications of climate change."

The Climate According to the Moonie Loonies

Rev. MoonAn editorial in The Washington Times criticizes a recent piece of writing by NASA Scientist Jim Hansen for not explaining why global warming is caused by human activities. Perhaps that's because the scientific proof of human-generated warming is fast becoming ancient history.  It may not be known to the journalistic footsoldiers of that paragon of scientific inquiry, the Rev. Sun Myung Moon.  But the case has long been accepted by the world's community of mainstream climate scientists since 1995. (For a summary of the experiments by which scientists prove that global warming is a function of our burning of oil and coal, see:  "The Scientific Case for Human Induced Warming.")
