UK Prime Minister: climate-change sceptics are 'flat-earthers'

From the Daily Telegraph today:

The Prime Minister launched an outspoken attack on climate-change sceptics amid growing signs of public doubts about the scientific and political consensus on the environment.

People who doubt that human activity contributes to global warming are “flat-earthers” and “anti-science”, Gordon Brown has said.

"All Climate Change Dogmatists are Communist"

There now we have the name calling out of the way, an utterly foolish and childish thing that adds NOTHING to the debate, can we get back to the science?

Brown is an idiot and he wont be PM much longer.

scientists are egg heads and politicians are hypocrites and blog commenters like me are pure saints!

Hey, I could get used to this name calling bit. Makes me feel all warm inside!

Brown must have his head examined to make a statement like that. In a country where global warming alarmism is on the decline and elections in one year Brown shows again why he will not be re-elected.

The odd thing about his statement is that their is very little political disagreement over the AGW issue in Britain. All parties support global warming, so what exactly does Brown have to gain except to alienate a large portion of the electorate?

This guy is a lame duckPM if their ever was a more accurate description of this phrase.

"...In Copenhagen, Harper will push for a binding deal, although it is still unclear what Canada's position is on the kind of targets that ought to be in that agreement. Nevertheless, his aides say, he will stress that an agreement must be reached..."

"...Harper's aides also say they are not being distracted by, nor do they want to argue about, the scandal involving some climate-change scientists who, in private e-mail messages that have surfaced over the past few weeks, suggested data supporting the conclusion that man-made pollution is causing climate change were altered or deleted.

"One or two scientists fudging data doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist. It's real," said one of Harper's closest advisers..."

Reminds me of the auto bail out. As soon as the US did Harper was right on board. My theory is that Harper and the conservatives have decided the best thing to do is dance the same step as the big Gorilla, aka the United States. When you dance with a gorilla, he takes the lead.

The US isn't the gorilla, China and India are. The two of them are more polluting that the US is. And with both country's double digit growth there is no way they are going to do anything to jeopardize that growth. They talk like they are going to do something, but my bet is Copenhagen is all fluff and will be ultimately ignored, as it should be.

True, China and India will have some kind of soft emission "targets" ... like Canada had emission targets after Kyoto.

It'll feel good to sign the accord and then they can use the paper for their bird cages.

Gordon Brown is famous in the UK for his "reverse Midas Touch".
Everything he is invlved with turns to s***.
Fortunately he and the rest of the corrupt loonies who currently "govern" the UK will shortly be consigned to the trash-heap.
He's delayed the General Election as long as possible, but this unelected P.M.'s time is fast running out.

Here's hoping he goes to Copenhagen. One thing is sure with friends like him, who needs enemies.

There's been an improvement in the nature of the debate already. Brown is calling us "sceptics".
