Peter Sinclair will be live on Climate TV tonight debuting his new Climate Crock of the Week, “Debunking Lord Monckton Part 2.”

Second expert panel shows "ClimateGate" was a ClimateSham

An independent panel of experts in the United Kingdom has released a report  finding there to be, “no evidence of any deliberate scientific malpractice in any of the work of the Climatic Research Unit and had it been there we believe that it is likely that we would have detected it.”

The inquiry was headed by former Chair of the House of Lords science and technology select committee, Lord Oxburgh.

As reported in the Economist today, “The scientists in ‘climategate’ did not fudge the data.”

The Wall Street Journal writes on the matter that:

“An independent academic panel said Wednesday that the U.K. climate researchers at the center of a scandal over hacked emails didn’t commit any deliberate scientific malpractice.”

This is the second inquiry out of the UK in the last month finding no wrongdoing around the so-called “climategate” incident involving the theft of private emails from top climate researchers at the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit.

An inquiry last month led by a bi-partisan UK government committee found the claims made around the stolen emails to be without merit.

The bi-partisan committee found that “the focus on CRU and Professor Phil Jones, Director of CRU, in particular, has largely been misplaced,” and that Dr. Jones’s actions were “in line with common practice in the climate science community,” and the CRU’s “analyses have been repeated and the conclusions have been verified.”

You can download that report here: “The disclosure of climate data from the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia.”

DeSmog Weekly TV - Exclusive Interview with Dr. Michael Mann

climate tv, climatetv

UPDATE: Here’s the archive of this week’s DeSmog Weekly on Climate TV with Dr. Michael Mann and Brad Johnson.

This week on Climate TV’s DeSmog Weekly program I had the pleasure of interviewing top climate scientist, and Real Climate blogger, Dr. Michael Mann, along with Brad Johnson, Researcher and blogger at the Center for American Progress.

As most DeSmog regulars know already, Dr. Mann has been at the center of many attacks by the climate deniers and conspiracy theorists. We talk about that and much more.

The interview will run tomorrow at 4pm pacific, 7pm eastern here on Climate TV. I will be on throughout the interview taking comments.

See you then!

If you haven’t seen our new show on Climate TV, here’s an archived show to give you an idea of what we are up to:

West Virginia Mining Disaster CEO: safety regulators as "silly as global warming"

From Think Progress:

The death toll from Massey Energy’s Upper Big Branch mine explosion last week has reached a total of 29 miners, the worst coal disaster in 40 years. When the disaster occurred, Massey was contesting millions of dollars in major safety violations levied against the mine. At his Labor Day anti-union rally last year, Massey CEO Don Blankenship attacked the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), claiming it “seeks power over coal miners.” He mocked both “Washington politicians” and local elected officials who attempt to ensure miner safety, calling their efforts “as silly as global warming”:

We also endure a Mine Safety and Health Administration that seeks power over coal miners versus improving their safety and their health. As someone who has overseen the mining of more coal than anyone else in the history of central Appalachia, I know that the safety and health of coal miners is my most important job. I don’t need Washington politicians to tell me that, and neither do you. But I also know — I also know Washington and state politicians have no idea how to improve miner safety. The very idea that they care more about coal miner safety than we do is as silly as global warming.

DeSmog Weekly TV - Live tomorrow at 7pm eastern (4pm pacific)

Tune in tomorrow as we host our second of hopefully many weekly live shows on Climate TV.

Tomorrow I want to cover off some of latest news and analysis happening around the attack on climate science, especially in the United States where the mainstream media have completely missed the boat on Climategate, when the UK government concluded no wrongdoing on the part of the climate scientist at the middle of the controversy, Phil Jones.

We are also going to have on a special guest, Karl Burkart, blogger on Mother Nature Network, internet strategist and Executive Producer of the Planet 100 Show on Planet Green. We will be talking with Karl about the Mountains Rule Campaign to end Mountain Top Removal (MTR).

Not only is the show run live in high-definition, it is also totally interactive - meaning that viewers can weigh in with questions and comments throughout the show for us to discuss and respond. It will be a lot of fun, so please jump on to Climate TV here at 7pm eastern (4pm pacific) tomorrow, Wednesday, April 7th.

If you missed the inaugural show last week, you can go to the Climate TV archive and check it out.

Also, would love to hear from anyone about ideas for upcoming shows. And since we turned off comments on DeSmog due to a troll infestation, you can email me at: desmogblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
