When It Comes To Global Warming, We're All Wet!
The atmosphere is becoming more humid in a pattern consistent with man-made climate change, researchers have found.
They say that the pattern of humidity increases in various parts of the world resembles that projected by computer models of man-made global warming. Water vapour is a greenhouse gas, and it is thought that having more of it in the air could amplify temperature rise. The major report released earlier this year by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) said that this amplification was the largest "positive feedback" mechanism they had identified.
Cascade effect
Semi-Denial? - The increasing humidity story was shown on the 'mainstream news', but they left out the point about humidity being a "positive feedback", or "cascade effect" on global warming.
I think the scariest part - that would get people to demand action - would be the link between humidity being a greenhouse gas that causes more warming. Well, you all get it, right?
Even the term "positive feedback" might sound benign,people might think it is a good thing.
Increased humidity in Canada's west.
I traveled out west this past summer and during my trip I noticed something new.
Temperatures in the high 20's to low 30's and plenty of humidity.
In every city we visited, Winnipeg, Moose Jaw, Calgary, Edmoton, Saskatoon and many others, I heard the same comment from local residents, "this has been a hot and humid summer". Most residents commented that they don't remember it ever being this hot and humid before.
Three years earlier I had traveled to these same places and at that time it never reached 30 degrees celcius and there was no humidity.
I'm not sure if western Canada was included in the projections but, it sure has changed.
Stop the warming!
