World Bank's Dirty Little Secret: Biofuels Make the World Hungrier -- By 75 Percent

Biofuels have forced global food prices up by 75% - far more than previously estimated - according to a confidential World Bank report obtained by the Guardian. The damning unpublished assessment is based on the most detailed analysis of the crisis so far, carried out by an internationally-respected economist at global financial body.

The figure emphatically contradicts the US government's claims that plant-derived fuels contribute less than 3% to food-price rises.

Both figures (3% and 75%) seem off-the-wall but, it’s indisputable that economic blowback from the biofuels scam has done serious damage worldwide - most notably to the environment in Brazil and Indonesia and to the poor in Mexico. Truly a triumph for muddled warmist ideology!

I really dont think that biofuels are intented to reduce carbon emissions, environment Canada lists the CO2 emissions reduction as less than 2% (with blending) compared to conventional fuel. It seems that biofuels are more a push to reduce the amount of fuel coming from the OPEC producing nations.

Biofuel production in the states is much the same, one certainly cant say George Bush was attempting to accomplish much in terms of CO2 reductions yet pushed hard for the biofuel industry. I’d say thats a pretty clear indicator that the drive is for energy independance instead of environmental concerns. I suspect because of this we wont see a reduction in biofuel production no matter who the next president is.

Zoggist stupidity, thats got a nice ring to it to

So, you’re repudiating the Gospel According to Gore?
Heretic! You’ll be consigned to outer darkness by the cult.

Yeh, Brazil and Indonesia have a lot of concern for U.S. energy independence. LOL.

The U.S. and Canadian approach to ethanol (corn and, in Canada only, a little wheat) is almost energy neutral (marginally plus or minus depending on whose figures you believe.)

“..Zoggist stupidity…[Nyah, nyah]” Typical warmist adolescent babble.

Here’s an hour and a half long video about pretty much every fact you’d like to know about how biofuels might not be such a good idea. Or at very least have a positive impact much much smaller than the hype.
